‘Real’ golf returned to Willow Valley over the weekend with our first qualifying competitions of the year. Preferred lies had previously been in play since October so it was always going to be a challenge for the participants. Our Saturday Stableford was convincingly won by Linda Burnley in Division 1. Linda scored 42 points meaning the nearest challenger was Richard Irons who returned 37 Points as the runner up. In Division 2, Ryan Lee-Haigh won his first competition with a score of 37 points. George Edmondson was the runner up on 35 Points.
Sunday brought our first major of the year, The Williams Trophy. The turnout was fantastic and it seems the beautiful weather really added to the day. Dean Barker was the winner on the day with a solid return of 40 Points. Matt Owen was extremely unlucky to be pushed into second place via countback. Richard Thornton and Scott Levick finished 3rd and 4th respectively to round out the prizewinners on 39 Points.
