Here at Willow Valley Golf we are trying to introduce golf to as many children as possible whether it be through Tri-Golf in schools or our successful junior academy which is run on a Saturday. Tri-Golf is an initiative set up by the Golf Foundation and is aimed at primary school children and designed to encourage children to develop key communication, co-ordination, arithmetic and team skills. These sessions count as 1 hour towards the government target of 2 hours of PE per week. We have already visited St Mary’s school Gomersal over the last 2 months which proved to be very popular with the children. At the end of the course the children were all awarded Golf Foundation Tri Golf certificates (photo attached). We have several more school bookings for the spring and summer months and will also be running a Tri Golf festival on the last day of the British Open.Funding has been made available by the Golf Foundation for Tri Golf sessions to help keep costs as low as possible for schools. The next step is to bring the children up to Willow Valley Golf or a golf course local to them to experience golf using real clubs and balls. Our Junior Golf Academy runs on a Saturdays between the hours of 10am and 3pm. The costs are £35 for 8 weeks and cover all facets of the game from putting to driving.Below is a quote from Mrs Voce Gomersal St Marys Assistant Head Teacher.
Hi Julian & Darren,
We are delighted with the golf sessions currently taking place with Y3 in school. The children look forward to their lesson and love the golf vocabulary used in games and activities. Their skills are developing well due to your excellent tuition.
Many thanks. Regards,
Anthea Voce. Assistant Head, Gomersal St Mary
