We had a great weekend of competitive golf to finish our summer season at the golf club. The Rhodes Trophy took place on Sunday 24th September and also doubled as the final event in our 2017 Order of Merit. Nigel Richardson’s 41 points were enough to take first place in the years final major. In second place and unlucky to miss out by a point was John Freeman on 40. Zia Khan came third on 39 points and rounding out the prizes was Jamie Coote with 38. The competition counted for double points in our Order of Merit but the leader going into the day managed to further stretch his lead. Junior member Habib Khan added to an already fantastic season by taking our Order of Merit title by a clear margin of 95 points. Mel Watson was the runner on 250 points and Jonathan Shaw next in third place on 225. A big thanks to everyone who supported our Majors this year and we look forward to seeing you all at an enjoyable prizegiving evening!
The previous day, we hosted our usual Saturday Stableford competition. Division 1 seen an excellent score from past Club Champion Terry Brushwood scoring 71 scratch for a points total of 38 to win. Runner up in division 1 was George Parkinson on 35 points. Division 2 resulted in a convincing win for Joe Smith on 42 points. Phil Narey was the runner up on 38.
