Well it has been a packed weekend of golf for our members at Willow Valley!
The weekend started last Friday with 40 members and 2 professionals taking part in our 2017 Captains Away Day at Wakefield Golf Club. The WVG members played 27 holes of golf, shared a lot of laughs and made some great memories along the way. The competition itself was won by Steve King with a score of 39 points. Runner up to Steve was Melody Watson on 37 points, followed by Wayne Pendlebury with 36 points.
Onto Saturday and back home to Willow Valley for our Invitation Day. This time, our members invite a player from another club to pair with them in a four ball betterball competition. The entry list went through the roof with our largest ever turnout for Invitation Day. The shotgun start had several holes with double groupings to get the day underway. Like the day before, members and guests alike had a brilliant time, both on the course and back in the clubhouse afterwards. Nigel Richardson(WVG) and Matthew Hartley(Crosland Heath) won the competition via countback with a return of 42 points. S Mosyer(WVG) and S Nicklin(Howley Hall) were the unlucky pair pipped for the win. Rounding out the prizes was Dave Mitchell(WVG) and Brad Harrison(Dewsbury) with 41 points.
Sunday rounded off our big weekend at the club with Medal 9. Richard Thornton took first place in Division 1 with a nett 69 and Richard Chamberlain was runner up just one shot back on nett 70. Division 2 seen Michael Hall take the honours with a nett 68 and Stephen Carrington-Ward the runner up on nett 69. Thanks to everyone for participating in a great few days of golf.
